Dirt Bike Riding

We have been exploring the area for a number of years on our dirt bikes and have knowledge of the best rides here in the Sodwana bay area. Bring your own dirt bike and join us for off-road riding in Maputaland close to the Mozambique border. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy some of the world’s best scuba diving and to also explore this area on your dirt bike on our guided trips. We cater for the beginner to intermediate rider with different types of terrain. The rides are not too technical and are through veld and plantations on mostly sandy paths and tracks. The rides are tailored to the abilities of the riders and groups & families are welcome.

The trails take riders along Sibaya lakes edge over wide open spaces, through smaller water crossings, up and down grassy hills, through plantations and indigenous vegetation, and sometime in muddy areas on sand roads or narrow bush paths. We visit Lake Sibaya and Samango Junction with the chance to see hippo, zebra and small buck during our rides. We take time to stop and admire the breathtaking views during the rides. Cool of with a swim in the shallow and refreshing water of the lake or a stream.

Bring your own dirt bike and protective gear.  We do not rent out bikes or protective gear. Riders should wear at least the basic protective gear for the rides eg. Helmet, goggles, boots etc. Ladies and the younger ones are welcome but must have previous riding experience. We can adjust our trips to be suitable for families. All guided trips must be booked and paid for in advance.

Half day, duration: 2 – 3hours (minimum 2 riders). Includes guide and backup vehicle if necessary. Excludes fuel, refreshments or meals
Full day, duration: 5 – 7hours (minimum 4 riders). Includes guide light meal, refreshments and backup vehicle where necessary. Excludes fuel.

Bring you own water for hydration during our rides (Camelbak). This is important as temperatures in Sodwana can be high during the summer months. Please provide own fuel. We can arrange for longer tours/trips in the area on request. Accommodation is provided at our base at Emoyeni Dive Retreat. Safari tents or chalets are available with catering or self-catering options.

We can quote on packages that includes accommodation, scuba diving and guided dirt bike trips. You can scuba in the mornings and go dirt biking in the afternoons. We can also do your scuba dive training during your stay with us. Pre-booking is essential and we need 2 – 3 weeks notice for your trip. All accommodation and trips must be paid in full before your arrival in Sodwana bay.

Please service and check your bikes before arrival as parts, workshops and services technicians are not available in the area. We discourage riders to ride in this area without knowledge of the terrain, the local people, their customs etc. A fee per bike per day will be payable for self drive.
